The Season ahead and the quiet transfer market.

A quiet few days....

There really isn’t much going on at all...very dull. More friendlies next week and Donny Rovers tomorrow as our and other teams look to working on their players’ fitness for the forthcoming season, just three weeks tomorrow!!!

With nothing much happening in the transfer market with the exception of Barcelona leading the way on signings, wanker agents stirring shit to push for better contracts or crazy transfer fees, I’m going to be looking at the current squad and how we may fare but, keeping in mind one or two players may come in over the next few weeks.

GK - Shay, Harper (VC for now anyway…) and Krull. KK's made a point of rotating these guys over the next few friendlies and competition can only be good for players who need to know that their spot in the first team isn’t guaranteed regardless. I think of Man City last season when Sven rotated Schmeichel and Heart which produced in my opinion a possibility for the England team.

LB - José Enrique with Charles N'Zogbia covering. After a shaky and rather sporadic start for the young Spaniard with a few notable performances we should be looking for him to cement himself as a first team player a good premier league left back.

RB – Sunday - Monday Habib Beye and Geremi. No concerns for me two good workers who should also be contesting with each other for a starting place. Not the greatest but I can see us being in the market for a RB and cant think of any that could come Micah Richards????

CB – Local lad Steven ‘Matrix Bullet’ Taylor, Samba Cacapa, Big man Faye and Almost USA Edgar. Not good enough and all over the place at the best of times. In my opinion we need two starters that you look to game in game out every week. All the top clubs have notable partnerships Vidic & Ferdinand, Toure & Gallas, Carragher & Agger and Terry & Carvalho. No one comes to mind who we could seriously look to be signing but I think we need at least one leader CB to sort out our back four.

CM – Blondie Smith, Av this cigarette in ya eye Barton, Danny ‘Rob Lee’ Guthrie and Nanana Nicky Butt. Again, pretty weak. Who knows what Barton’s going to be doing next or in which cell he’ll be doing it from and with Guthrie being a new young lad we look to Butt and Smith to lead form the middle, not inspiring stuff! A position we need to look to strengthen in the transfer market in my opinion. With Little Emre out I cant see any passing or attacking football and at the same time feel we need some muscle in there too, sad times in centre mid!

LM & RM – Damien Loads ’a’ money Duff, Charles N'Zogbia, James Milner, Lil’ LuaLua & Jonas ‘Tobey McGuire’ Gutierrez. Unless Milner was to leave for Liverpool I cant see KK adding to this line up with the recent addition of Spiderman strengthening the flanks. We’ve got some good talent in this area and I prefer to see Oba as a winger with five across the midfield and hope that KK can get the best out of these young lads with good potential.

BG (Big Guns) – Michael (fuck you Argentina) Owen (C), G’ day mate Viduka, Andy ‘the target’ Carroll & 56 year old Martins. If Owen can maintain his fitness and remain injury free Viduka and Carroll are ideal players for him to play off, myself being a fan of the big and little man up front system. Bus im sure the Toon being the Toon would love a big signing to come in up front but I cant see it happening and feel we’d be better of focusing on other positions.

Meanwhile back on transfer news now links us with Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini from Deportivo La Coruna. He has 29 international caps, started his career at Boca Jnrs', moved to AC in 99 never really cut it against their stars and as a result has been loaned out to a number of decent Spanish teams.

Next ill be talking about Captain Mickey Owen "He leads by example, and that's a good way to lead," said Keegan. "He's not scared to give his opinion when he's right, or to say what he feels.' Looks like KK's attempting to mould him into a certain other Geordie hero and keep him, FOR LIFE! Adam Sheawer or Alan Sheringham I forget...

Apologies for any poor grammerrr (joke) or spelling rather rush and a sizable proof read I can do without. In the words of john Prescott ‘’that is my ed-u-cation’’. I hope some of you will reply and look forward to reading your comments.

Till Eto arrives in a couple of days adios J
